Apple releases iOS 15.7.1 for older iPhones

Apple has just released iOS 15.7.1 and iPadOS 15.7.1 updates for older devices that can’t be upgraded to iOS 16, to close unpatched security holes.

According to AppleInsider , the iPhone maker recommends that users update to iOS 15.7.1 or iPadOS 15.7.1 as soon as possible because they address known security issues that could put users at risk. Systems addressed through this update include Apple Neural Engine, Audio, Backup, FaceTime, Graphics Driver, Image Processing, Kernel, Model I/O, ppp, Safari, WebKit, WiFi, and zlib.

Apple has listed the following devices receiving this update including iPhone 6s and later, iPad Pro (all models), iPad Air 2 and later, iPad 5th generation and later, iPad mini 4 or later and iPod touch (7th generation).

It is known that iPhone 6s, 7 and iPod touch models have been removed in iOS 16, as well as iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 4 do not support iPadOS 16, so the appearance of these security patches is quite useful. Useful for users of devices that are no longer supported by Apple.

Users who enable automatic updates won’t have to do anything because iOS 15.7.1 will automatically install overnight when connected to the charger. For those who manually install updates, this can be done through the Settings app > General > Software Update.
